Texas Christian Horned Frogs men’s basketball by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 49 The Texas Christian Horned Frogs men’s basketball team represents Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas. The Horned Frogs compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and are members of the Big 12 Conference. The program has had 11 head coaches since its first season in 1908–09, as well as three interims during World War II. History Texas Christian began varsity competition in men’s basketball with their inaugural season being 1908-1909 under coach W.E McLean led by captain A.G Classen who went on to become a long time professor at TCU after his athletic career was over and compiled an overall record of 2-3 that year but did not participate again until 1914 when it joined the Southwest Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SWC). In 1922 they won their only SWC regular season title going undefeated at 15-0 which included wins against teams from Kansas State, Oklahoma A&M, Baylor and Arkansas before losing to Washington & Lee University; however this wasn’t enough for them to be awarded an invitation into either NCAA or NAIA tournaments due to strict eligibility requirements set forth by both organizations back then so despite having one of the best records among colleges within those years they would have been excluded anyways even if invited because none were considered eligible players according tot he rules made up prior . In 1923 Fred Taylor took over coaching duties and led them onto more success winning 3 conference championships between 1924 – 1928 compiling 20 straight victories along with several other seasons worth noting such as 1938 – 1939 where Jack Martin held court while moderating another successful campaign garnering yet another championship win.. During WWII there were two interim coaches George Loeppky Jr., And William Matthews respectively whom handled business admirably keeping things afloat without much disruption or drop off skill level wise leading up toward today’s version seen now competing successfully once more post war era under current leader Jamie Dixon whose tenure started 2017 following Trent Johnson’s departure after four years service towards helping build upon what we see presently known nationally amongst peers alike namely appearing recently 2019 NIT Tournament Semifinalists solidifying themselves further still rightfully so controlling major momentum forward moving onward here soonforth… Today TCU stands proud boasting many accolades including 5 total conference titles stretching all way back original 1918 victory achieved plus additional recent highlights like making Elite 8 round 2018 tournament alongside various individual awards earned throughout history celebrating exceptional student athletes representing school honorably these days too! There is no doubt about fact that this excellent collegiate sports program will continue doing great work future generations come pass through doors open wide welcoming any willing participants carrying on legacy left behind those paved path ahead coming out victorious every time striving higher achieving goals whatever may lay waiting thereon down road traveled thus far already accomplished being sure proud reminder good times shared many memories created blessing us all ways imaginable forevermore amen…
