Tanya Tucker by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 53 Tanya Tucker (born October 10, 1958) is an American country music artist who had her first hit, “Delta Dawn”, in 1972 at the age of 13. Over the succeeding decades, she has become one of the few child performers to mature into adulthood without losing her audience and continues to tour worldwide. She has recorded a string of major hits that have earned her Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and CMA awards for female vocalist of the year. Her most recent studio album While I’m Livin’ was released on August 23rd 2019 via Fantasy Records/Concord Music Group Early life Tucker was born in Seminole, Texas on October 10th 1958 as Tanya Denise Tucker; she is the daughter of Jesse Beauchamp and Juanita Belcher Tucker. At three weeks old she moved with her family to St George Utah where they would stay until moving back To Willcox Arizona when Tanya was 8 years old after which they then settled down in Phoenix Arizona. From a young age tucker was surrounded by music due to both parents being avid singers however it wasn’t until 1968 when she performed Patsy Cline’s ‘Walkin’ After Midnight” while visiting relatives near Bakersfield California that led them all noticing how good Tuckers singing voice really sounded leading them pushing for he rto pursue music professionally . Career beginnings In 1971 at 12 Years Old , after hearing about Billy Sherrill producer looking for new talent , tucker decided to send him some demo tapes despite not having any money or support from anyone else apart from herself . Surprisingly enough Sherrill called back saying he wanted sign taylor up immediately stating “I don’t care what your background or training has been — you can sing anything!” just 2 days later during January 1972 taylors career truly began with his debut single ‘Delta Dawn’ becoming an instant success charting number 6 within U S billboard hot 100 and making Taylor The youngest person ever top US singles chart this record still stands today Breakthrough Success and Later Life By 1975 Taylor had released 4 albums including 5 Top Ten Hits such as Lizzie And The Rainman & San Antonio Stroll selling over 1 million copies combined cemented Taylors status as a star while also earning multiple Grammys along way whilst being nominated 11 times throughout duration career Following mid 80s decline popularity although still active recording wise didn’t reach similar levels previous successes but returned big time 1993 comeback album What Do I Do With Me winning two grammy awards followed 1996 release Complicated going gold certified once again reshaping views people towards current sound Despite slowing down significantly since 2000s stunningly remains active managed achieve second no1 song 2003 duet performance ‘Strong Enough To Bend ‘ alongside Gary Allan .
