Southern California Trojans men’s basketball by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 46 The Southern California Trojans men’s basketball team is a college basketball program that represents the University of Southern California (USC). The team competes in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as part of the Pac-12 Conference. USC has won 11 NCAA tournament titles, and were crowned national champions in 1954 and 1972. They have also made 24 appearances to the Final Four, including five consecutive trips from 2001–2005 under head coach Henry Bibby. The current head coach is Andy Enfield who took over for Kevin O’Neill in 2013 following three seasons at Florida Gulf Coast University where he led them to their first ever Sweet Sixteen appearance with an upset win over Georgetown Hoyas during March Madness 2012. During his tenure at USC, Coach Enfield achieved two NCAA Tournament berths in 2016 & 2017 which was highlighted by a First Round victory against SMU Mustangs during March Madness 2017 season after they lost out on being seeded higher than #8 due to self-imposed sanctions resulting from previous violations within its athletic department prior to his arrival there as Head Coach. Furthermore, he became only 3rd Trojan Basketball Head Coach since 1941 when Sam Barry achieved back-to-back conference championships with 1945 & 1946 teams respectively before Tim Floyd did likewise again 23 years later with 1989 & 1990 squads making him just 5th overall such instance across program history! In addition to this success on court many famed players have played for USC through past decades like Bill Sharman who was All American 4 times consecutively between 1948–51 while leading it all way up ’til 1952 National Championship Game run; or Paul Westphal who earned All America honors twice himself along same stretch besides becoming ABA/NBA Hall Fame inductee after long pro career…all these figures had big impact shaping what we know today about modern day Trojans Basketball Program! It wouldn’t be complete without mentioning legendary individual achievements accomplished here – most notably David Greenwood’s record setting 33 rebounds single game performance back 1979 match versus Oregon Ducks; Jamal Sampson scoring 25 points 15 minutes off bench 2002 contest rival Arizona Wildcats thus earning share Pac 10 Player Week Award few days later too plus Byron Wesley averaging 20+pts each year 2011–14 span even though missing out notching double digit wins any given campaign last decade those feats still remain great memory fans will never forget either.. Finally yet importantly enough don’t forget mention recent successes now taking shape new era built around talented core group stars like Bennie Boatwright Elijah Stewart Jordan McLaughlin Chimezie Metu Shaqquan Aaron among others helping lead charge into 2018 edition tourney bid hopes alive brighter future ahead us all alike!!
