Robin Thede

Robin Thede (born July 27, 1979) is an American comedian, writer, producer and actress. She was the creator and host of BET’s late-night talk show The Rundown with Robin Thede. Additionally she has written for such shows as Soul Train Awards and Essence Festival’s Black Women in Hollywood ceremony among others.

Early life & Career Beginnings
Thede was born in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Mary Jo Hardy and Anthony Robert “Tony” Thede Sr., a construction worker who later became a radio DJ at KFMG 98.9 FM known as “Dr Funk.” Growing up in rural Iowa during the 1980s shaped her view on race relations within America; which often comes out through her satirical comedy sketches today. As a child she developed her appreciation for music from spending time around local jazz musicians that would visit their home or play at nearby clubs frequented by family members—including relatives affiliated with the notorious gangster Dutch Schultz Jr.. After graduating high school early at age 16 she attended Columbia College Chicago where studied theatre before transferring to Howard University majoring in Radio/TV Broadcasting with minors African Studies & Political Science. During this period she landed internships including one stint working under John Singleton while he was directing Baby Boy (2001). Following college graduation Robin moved to Los Angeles where began performing stand-up comedy ultimately landing writing gigs on TV sets like Cedric the Entertainer Presents (2002), Real Husbands of Hollywood(2013)and most recently HBO series A Black Lady Sketch Show which marked her first venture behind camera both producing & starring roles simultaneously thus becoming history being only black woman creating solo sketch comedy show ever televised broadcast network television programming . In 2017 debuted own late night talk show titled ‘The Rundown With Robin Thede’ aired BET Networks until 2019 when it ceased production due lack viewership ratings despite receiving critical acclaim from media outlets world wide– proving successful endeavor into hosting arena once again making strides further diversify male dominated sphere entertainment industry .

Personal Life
Thede is married hip hop artist QD3 since 2018 couple resides LA together two sons .
