The Purdue Boilermakers are the official intercollegiate athletic teams representing Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana. The school’s sports teams compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as a member of the Big Ten Conference. As of 2019-2020 season, Purdue has won 24 NCAA team national championships and 4 individual titles across several sports programs; its football program is one of only four FBS programs to have produced two Heisman Trophy winners: quarterback Len Dawson in 1957 and running back Drew Brees in 2000.

Purdue was founded by John Purdue on May 6th 1869. He donated land for both the university itself and an athletics field that now serves as Ross–Ade Stadium home stadium for their college football team since 1924 with additional seating added over time to accommodate larger crowds up until 1997 when it reached its current capacity at 57,236 spectators. With this newly constructed facility came many other collegiate varsity sports such as basketball (1901), baseball (1887), cross country (1912), golf (1917 ), soccer(1996 )swimming & diving( 1922 ); track & field/indoor track also known as “Boilermaker Track” debuted during 1895 season making them one most successful programs among all universities competing today having earned 16 total conference championship titles combined between men’s outdoor meets alongside women’s indoor races while hosting events every year at Lambert Fieldhouse located inside Mackey Arena which served mainly basketball games before being replaced due renovations beginning from 2017 onwards . Swimming pool called France A Córdova Recreation Center Pool opened nearby 2015 providing students access aquatic activities like swimming lessons or recreational use including scuba diving certification courses offered through US Divers organization certified professional trainers working there regularly
