by Joshua Brown

The Purdue Boilermakers football team represents Purdue University in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of Division I. The program, which has been a member of the Big Ten Conference since 1896, is known for its high-powered offense and strong defense under head coach Jeff Brohm. The Boilermakers play their home games at Ross–Ade Stadium on campus in West Lafayette, Indiana with capacity over 57,000 fans.

Purdue’s first intercollegiate football game was played October 29th 1887 against Butler College located in Indianapolis. Although they lost 6-0 it set off an amazing journey that would result into one of college footballs most storied programs today. Throughout the years some have called them “the cradle of quarterbacks” due to several successful players such as Bob Griese who led Purdue to National Championship contention during his time as quarterback from 1964 – 1967 and Drew Brees who went on to be NFL Super Bowl champion and MVP with New Orleans Saints after being drafted by San Diego Chargers following his collegiate career at Puadue from 1997 – 2000 .

From 1929 through 1933 John Wooden coached basketball while also coaching concurringly alongside legendary head coach Noble Kizer for five seasons where he compiled four wins two losses and three ties resulting into winning the 1932 Big Ten title along with going 9-1 overall but were not invited to any bowl game due tot he fact that post season bowls didn’t exist yet until 1935 Sugar Bowl becoming 1st ever sponsored bowl..
In 1969 current athletic director Morgan Burke assumed duties leading up till 2016 when Jeff Brohm took over current reigns upon Morgans retirement & continued success including 2018 Music City Bowl appearance versus Auburn Tigers falling short 63 – 14 spoiling opportunity for 10 win season ending 7 – 6 leaving excitement surrounding what 2019 will bring forth!
Currently ranked No 11 preseason polls , hoping extend run streak 4 consecutive bowl appearances this upcoming year facing tough schedule beginning August 30th vs Nevada Wolfpack @Ross Ade Stadium followed big ten action throughout entire fall campagin culminating December 28th matchup Holiday Bowll : Minnesota Golden Gofers or Wisconsin Badgers depending outcome final standings !

Ultimately despite few ups n downs throughout nearly century long history , Purdues reputation remains among elite powerhouse schools Nationally making mark each passing day solidifying legacy within BigTen conference & beyond !!
