Phil Mickelson by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 65 Phil Mickelson (born June 16, 1970) is an American professional golfer. He has won 44 events on the PGA Tour, including five major championships: three Masters titles (2004, 2006, 2010), a PGA Championship (2005), and an Open Championship (2013). Mickelson was born in San Diego to parents Phil Sr., a commercial airline pilot who had also been an All-American basketball player at Kansas State University; and Mary Mickelson. He attended elementary school and high school in San Diego before enrolling at Arizona State University on a golf scholarship. In college he became only the third left-hander ever to win NCAA individual golf championship with his victory in 1989 as well as being named First Team All-American four times. After graduating from ASU he turned pro in 1992 under IMG management. As of 2021, Mickelson ranks seventh all time for most career wins by any U.S.-born players on the PGA Tour behind Sam Snead’s 82 victories but ahead of Arnold Palmer’s 62 wins . His success over two decades earned him such nicknames as “Lefty” or “the Thrill from La Mesa”. As one of 25 players inducted into World Golf Hall Of Fame since 1998 ,he continues today to be one of few multiple major winners still active among both male and female professionals globally . Throughout his career he has represented many sponsorships which included Callaway Golf Company , Barclays Bank , KPMG Consulting Firm , Rolex Watches etc…in addition to founding own production company based out Los Angeles called ‘The Legacy Productions’. Furthermore he serves alongside fellow pros Jim Furyk & Davis Love III as ambassador for First Tee program launched by USGA & LPGA dedicated towards teaching life skills through game of golf primarily targeting kids around United States while helping them grow holistically inside & outside courses On April 10th 2021 it was announced that Phil will become part owner/investor group led by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban purchasing majority stake Major League Baseball franchise – Texas Rangers thus becoming first known current active athlete owning/invests sports team within 4 Major North American Professional Sports Leagues
