Patty Loveless

Patty Loveless (born Patty Lee Ramey; January 4, 1957) is an American country music singer. Since her emergence on the country music scene in late 1986 with her first self-titled album, Loveless has been one of the most popular and acclaimed female artists in the genre. She has recorded 11 studio albums—four for MCA Records, four for Epic Records Nashville and three for Saguaro Road Records—and has charted more than 40 singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs charts.

Loveless was born in Pikeville, Kentucky to a large family that included ten siblings; however she experienced tragedy early when both parents died by the time she was eight years old. Despite being raised by strict Pentecostal grandparents who forbade singing secular songs while growing up, Loveless developed into an accomplished vocalist at a young age and began performing locally before moving to Louisville as a teenager where she continued honing her craft via various local venues including fairs and clubs around western Kentucky. In 1981 she married Terry Lovelace whom collaborated with his wife throughout much of their career together which ended after they divorced in 1991 though they remain friends today according to interviews conducted during this period of transition..
A demo tape eventually found its way onto record executive Tony Brown’s desk at MCA records prompting him to sign Lovesless upon hearing it becoming only one among several other women singers signed under MCA during this era such as Reba McEntire & Kathy Mattea making them part of what can be referred too as “The Class Of ’85”. Her debut single “Blue Side Of Town” from her eponymous debut album became top twenty hit quickly followed by two Top Ten hits from same LP thus establishing herself firmly within mainstream landscape . Throughout 1990s ,Loveland released five further critically acclaimed albums resulting numerous awards nominations & wins including Grammy Award nomination along with winning Female Vocalist award twice consecutively from Academy Of Country Music Awards .She also established herself beyond traditional boundaries having covered rockabilly classic “Lovesick Blues” alongside fellow icon George Jones soon after going No 1 single peaking atop US hot Country Singles Chart 1999 smash Hit “How Can I Help You Say Goodbye” off Long Stretch Of Lonesome Album which made waves outside usual genres but alas did not translate into commercial success leaving Epic Label leading company dropping artist shortly thereafter despite good reviews given project so far through out duration tenure there although label re issued Greatest Hits package months later containing remixed version previously mentioned track plus new song titled Dimestore Cowgirl featuring Alison Krauss gaining critical acclaim yet still failed commercially due largely lack promotion budget associated release…. Though remaining active recording / touring ever since all original studio releases were shelved until 2013 when independent label Saguaro Road Recordings took over releasing Platinum selling Mountain Soul II followup previous set even garnering another ACM win along 2017 induction Grand Ole Opry solidifying legendary status awarded earlier career achievements lingering decades later ..
