Oklahoma is a state located in the South Central region of the United States. It is bordered by Kansas to the north, Missouri and Arkansas to the east, Texas to the south and west, New Mexico to the southwest corner and Colorado to its northwest corner. Oklahoma was admitted as part of Indian Territory on November 16th 1907 becoming 46th state in America’s Union. Its name comes from two Choctaw words “okla” meaning people and “humma” meaning red; thus it means land of Red People.

The largest population center within Oklahoma is its capital city, Oklahoma City which was founded during 1889 Land Rush when thousands rushed into unassigned lands for homesteading opportunities available due to newly opened Unassigned Lands Act passed by President Benjamin Harrison that same year resulting rapid growth throughout area with over 10K settlers arriving just one day after opening date! The second most populous city being Tulsa home many famous attractions such as Philbrook Museum Fine Arts & Gardens along Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary showcasing exquisite native wildlife species including bald eagles among others making this particular site popular tourist destination both locals visitors alike.
