Nick Smith

Nick Smith (born November 9, 1979) is an American politician who currently serves as a member of the United States House of Representatives from California’s 18th congressional district.

Early life and education

Smith was born in Los Angeles, California to parents Robert and Stephanie Smith. He attended public school throughout his childhood before attending Harvard University for his undergraduate degree. He then went on to earn a law degree at Yale Law School. After graduating he worked as a legal aid attorney in San Diego before starting a small business specializing in solar energy installation services. In 2014 he was elected to serve on the city council of Carlsbad where he served until 2019 when he ran successfully won election to Congress representing the 18th Congressional District which includes parts of Orange County and San Diego County including Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad and Encinitas..

Political career
In 2020 Nick Smith decided to run for reelection against Republican challenger Tony Amador-Lopez whom had previously lost out during primary elections earlier that year . It was reported by media outlets that this would be one of the most competitive races for congress due its close proximity between both candidates fundraising efforts with each receiving over $2 million dollars total .
