Newark

Newark is a city in the U.S. state of New Jersey, located in Essex County at the mouth of the Passaic River and between Newark Bay to its east and Branch Brook Park to its west. It is 8 miles (13 km) west of Manhattan, making it part of both the New York metropolitan area and Northern New Jersey’s Gateway Region. Its population was 285,154 according to 2019 estimates from United States Census Bureau—making it the largest municipality in New Jersey by population—and ranks as America’s 67th most populous city nationwide.
