Nebraska state government is the governmental structure of Nebraska, a U.S. state in the Midwestern United States. The primary purpose of Nebraska state government is to ensure that citizens are provided with basic services such as public safety, transportation infrastructure and education while ensuring fiscal responsibility over resources allocated for these purposes.

The Constitution of Nebraska serves as the basis for all laws within its jurisdiction and provides for three branches: executive, legislative and judicial branchs; each having separate powers which act independently from each other but must work together in order to effectively govern the state.

The Executive Branch consists of six elected constitutional officers who serve four-year terms including Governor Pete Ricketts (R), Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley (R), Secretary Of State Bob Evnen (R) Attorney General Doug Peterson( R ), Auditor Charlie Janssen (R) ,and Treasurer John Murante (D). These officials are responsible for administering their respective departments or offices and carry out specific functions related to those duties such as issuing licenses or collecting taxes respectively . Additionally they have certain shared responsibilities like appointing members to boards/commissions established by legislation passed by legislature or pardoning convicts convicted under statute law if necessary .

The Legislative Branch is composed bicameral body consisting of 49 members serving two years terms—the “unicameral” Legislature made up only one chamber instead—which works together to pass statutes into law during annual sessions held between January through mid April every year at State Capitol Building located in Lincoln city .
