Mitch Henderson by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 49 Mitch Henderson (born January 30, 1971) is an American college basketball coach and the head coach of Princeton University’s men’s basketball team. He has been at the helm since 2011, when he was hired to replace Sydney Johnson after Johnson left for Fairfield University. Henderson played collegiately as a guard from 1989–93 at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana where he captained his teams during his final two seasons there. After graduating with a degree in finance, he began his coaching career as an assistant under Bill Carmody at Princeton from 1994-2000 before serving one season apiece on staffs for Rob Jeter at UW-Milwaukee (2001), Tom Crean at Marquette (2002) and John Beileinat West Virginia (2003). In 2004 Henderson returned to Princeton alongside then newly appointed head coach Joe Scott who had served previously as both Henderson’s teammate and roommate while they were undergraduates together with the Demons of NSU.. During that time frame Mitch also worked closely with Pete Carril who had retired following AMIL championship winning run just prior to Coach Scott’s appointment but still remained active within their program as “special advisor” From 2005 onward Mitch continued working with Coach Scott until 2010 when again faced fresh change by returning to take over reigns once held by former boss now turned colleague Joe Scott moving onto Air Force Academy . Since taking charge ,Princeton reached NCAA tournament twice alongwith several other postseason appearances including 2017 CIT title victory against Wichita state which marked first ever post season triumph since 2004 .In terms of regular season achievements Tigers have finished above .500 mark every year except 2016/17 due too injury crisis yet managed comeback this past campaign reaching Ivy league semi finals only drop out narrowly 70-69 vs Harvard .All said success has earned him numerous honors such standout accolades like being named 2018 NABC District 13 coachess awards recipient or appearing five times consecutively(2014 -2019 ) among 20 finalists competing Ted Hendricks award recognizing nation top mid major coaches ..
