Missouri state government is the governmental structure of the U.S. state of Missouri as established by the Constitution of Missouri and law passed in accordance with it, including various acts and ordinances of the counties, cities and towns within it. The basic structure is laid out in Article 3 and 4 sections 1-11 (with some exceptions)of its constitution which divides power between three branches: executive, legislative, judicial.

Executive branch
The Governor serves as head of government for four year terms with no term limits imposed on them; they have authority to appoint directors to oversee more than 40 departments that make up the executive branch such as transportation department or health department etc.. Governors are elected through popular vote every two years along with lieutenant governors who serve under their leaderships except when a vacancy occurs in office then lieutenant governor ascends to governorship until election can be held . Other officers include secretary of states , attorney general , treasurer among others all appointed by governor but approved by senate .

They hold regular sessions annually from January 6th till mid May unless extended beyond this date due bills still pending taking into consideration weekend breaks & holidays falling during session days thus making actual working days much less than calendar dates provided above although special sessions may be called at any time if needed usually relating too emergency situations like natural disasters etc… Their job includes creating laws governing people’s lives & passing budgets pertaining fiscal matters also they approve appointments made my governor same way judiciary does later down line .

Judicial branch : This particular branch consist Supreme court located Jefferson City comprising seven judges headed Chief Justice serving eight year terms followed lower courts i e circuit courts presided over by individual judge handling civil cases misdemeanors felonies appeals after decisions taken at trial level again district courts handle similar affairs yet limited jurisdiction unlike higher counterparts here justices peace hear misdemeanor cases small claims files suits involving little money amounts not exceeding $5k only lastly administrative hearing commission resolves disputes related regulatory agencies decisions board appealings most work being done State Capital location however local police magistrate handles minor offenses like traffic violations petty theft issues etc….
