Mississippi State Bulldogs by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 72 The Mississippi State Bulldogs are the collegiate athletic teams of Mississippi State University located in Starkville, Mississippi. The school’s athletics program is a member of NCAA Division I and competes in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The main mascot for all sports at MSU is Bully, an English bulldog with a spiked collar who appears as both live and costumed versions during games. The primary colors used by all team uniforms are maroon and white; however gold is often used to accentuate details on many of the uniforms. Mississippi State sponsors nineteen varsity intercollegiate sports programs: eight men’s programs (baseball, basketball, cross country/track & field, football, golf, tennis) plus eleven women’s programs (basketball ,cross country/track &field ,golf softball , soccer , sand volleyball swimming & diving .tennis ). Additionally there are five club level sport teams that compete nationally – pistol shooting Rodeo rugby union lacrosse Ultimate Frisbee . Of these 19 teams three have won national championships: baseball in 2013 Men’s Golf 2018 Women’s Basketball 2017-2018. A number of players from various MSU squads have gone on to professional careers including Dak Prescott NFL Football Todd Doolittle MLB Baseball Jonathan Papelbon MLB Baseball Johnthan Banks NFL Football Malik Newman NBA Basketball Jarvis Varnado NBA Basketball Fred Ross Jr NFL Football Benardrick McKinney NFL Football Victoria Vivians WNBA Player etc.. Miss state has long been competitively successful within its conference affiliation winning SEC Championships or titles across multiple men’s and women’s sports over recent years most notably football basketball baseball softball track& field Cross Country Soccer Swimming Tennis Golf Sand Volleyball Lacrosse Pistol Shooting Rodeo Rugby Union Ultimate Frisbee competitions amongst others mentioned previously but not limited to those already stated here too…In addition they’ve traditionally had strong showings in one off tournaments such as March Madness NIT College World Series Super Regionals NCAA championships etc… In terms if fan support their fans also known affectionately s “Bulldogs Nation ”are widely regarded as some of college sport dedicated supporters culminating into one unified voice behind every game played by any Bulldog squad….
