Matt Kuchar by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 51 Matt Kuchar (born June 21, 1978) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and formerly the Nationwide Tour. He has won seven times on tour including his two most notable wins: The Players Championship in 2012 and the RBC Heritage in 2014. Kuchar was born in Winter Park, Florida and grew up playing golf at East Lake Golf Club where he went to school with fellow Professional Golfer Stewart Cink. After attending Georgia Tech, he turned pro at age 22 after winning three collegiate events during his senior year of college. His first win came soon after turning pro when he captured the 2002 Honda Classic by three shots over Ernie Els. In 2007 Kuchar won back-to-back tournaments becoming only one of four players since 1990 to accomplish this feat; defeating Sergio Garcia for both titles; a playoff victory at Turning Stone Resort Championship followed shortly thereafter by another championship title at Ginn sur Mer Classic that same season In 2009 Matt finished 4th overall money list earning just under $4 million dollars that year alone making him one of five players all time to pass 3 Million dollar mark before 30 years old . That same year also marked a career best finish T2nd place Masters Tournament which included keeping pace with Tiger Woods for much majority tournament until final round Sunday charge from Woods took away any chance for Kuchar major win that week despite setting personal record 18 hole score 65 third round Saturday afternoon .
