Markquis Nowell by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 62 Markquis Nowell (born July 24, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for Mercer University and attended Westside High School in Macon, Georgia. High school career Nowell attended Westside High School in Macon, Georgia where he was a four-year starter. During his senior year at Westside HS he averaged 15 points per game and 5 assists per game while leading them to their third straight region title and earning him All Region honors as well as Honorable Mention All State honors from Maxpreps media outlets. His leadership on the court earned him respect from teammates alike who voted him team captain during his junior and senior years. After graduation Markquis continued his passion by attending Mercer University located in Macon GA where he would continue to play basketball collegiately under head coach Bob Hoffman with now fellow teammate Demetre Rivers until 2018 when they both decided it was time to pursue professional careers outside of college ball after being named Teammates of The Year 2017–2018 season.. College career At Mercer University Nowell’s freshman year started off strong making twenty eight starts out thirty two games averaging 8 points 3 rebounds 2 steals 1 assist showing great promise within first few months becoming one half fan favorite duo known as “The Twins” along with former teammate Demetre Rivers .
