Latin America by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 74 Latin America is a region of the Americas comprising countries where Romance languages such as Spanish, Portuguese and French are predominantly spoken. It includes twenty sovereign states located in Central, South America and the Caribbean islands. The term Latin America was first used by French emperor Napoleon III during his campaign to establish a Second Mexican Empire in 1864. The Hispanic population of Latin American countries accounts for more than half of its total population, with some estimates reaching up to 80%. This comprises people from Native Americans (Amerindians), Europeans (mainly Spaniards) and African ancestry groups who were brought over as slaves or indentured servants during colonial times. Although there is no single definition that encompasses all these nations, most Latin American countries share similar cultural traits including language; music; dance; cuisine; festivals; folklore and religious beliefs which have been shaped by their shared historical experiences through colonization by European powers since the 15th century onwards. Although the individual political systems differ greatly between each nation-state within Latin America today – ranging from constitutional republics to dictatorships – they remain unified under one regional union known as “the Organization of American States” founded in 1948 after World War II ended in 1945. Through this organization members agree upon common goals towards economic development, democracy promotion and human rights protection throughout their respective regions while also collaborating on projects related to education & culture exchange programs amongst other initiatives across borders within both North & South elements of “America” itself overall still presently too now currently too even further still yet then again nowadays alike similarly so thus far regardless altogether practically speaking anyways either way anyway you look at it anyhow despite all this notwithstanding though moreover conversely quite contrarily instead vice versa henceforth forthwith consequently furthermore thence lastly eventually ultimately finally coming full circle back around .
