Kim Mulkey (born May 17, 1962) is an American college basketball coach who currently serves as the head women’s basketball coach at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She previously served as the head coach of Louisiana Tech from 2000 to 2011. During her time there she led the Lady Techsters to a national championship title in 1982 and two Final Four appearances during her tenure.

Mulkey attended Hammond High School in Hammond, LA where she was coached by Hall of Fame Coach Pat Summitt for four years before enrolling at Louisiana Tech University on scholarship for both academics and athletics. As a player with the Lady Techsters under Coach Sonja Hogg Mulkey won three National Championships: 1981-1982; 1982-1983; 1983-1984 while leading them to back-to-back undefeated seasons each year (34–0). Additionally, during this period they were also able to win two conference championships and make multiple final four appearances including one runner up finish after losing against Cheyney State College 62–61 in 1984’s NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship game. In total Kim appeared in six straight NCAA tournaments throughout her career winning five tournament games along with being named first team All American 3 times (1982–84) and honorable mention all American once (1985). After graduating summa cum laude from LaTech with a bachelor’s degree accounting/finance/computer information systems she finished out her playing career by participating professionally overseas until 1991 when she returned stateside becoming assistant coach alongside Leon Barmore at LaTech then later taking over his role upon him retiring after 11 consecutive Final Four Appearances culminating into another national championship win during that season making it their fourth since 1980 under his direction followed by subsequent wins 2005 & 2008 respectively bringing their grand total number of titles up to 5 so far which still stands today despite having been absent from any further post season play since 2012 due mostly due its recent sanctions following an academic scandal involving former players misusing university resources resulting unfair advantages such as receiving extra benefits or even grades prior classes not taken etc.. However these issues have yet be resolved leaving many questions unanswered regarding potential future consequences if found guilty though no one has officially spoken about those matters publicly other than declare innocence thus far — which only adds fuel speculation fire around what could happen next should things progress negatively…

In 2000 Mulkey left LaTech accepting offer become head women’s basketball program newly founded school located nearby – Baylor University located Waco TX where had already established solid reputation recruiting area talent well known ability develop young stars like Sophia Young Brittney Griner Odyssey Sims ..etc….
