Ke Huy Quan

Ke Huy Quan (born August 20, 1971) is a Vietnamese-American actor and stuntman. He is best known for his role as “Short Round” in the 1984 adventure movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Early Years

Ke was born in Saigon, Vietnam on August 20th, 1971 to parents who had fled South Vietnam after the fall of Saigon in 1975. His family eventually immigrated to San Jose, California when he was 8 years old where they lived until moving to Sacramento later that same year. Growing up with an interest in martial arts films such as The Karate Kid (1984), Ke began training at local dojos and even competed at tournaments throughout high school before being casted by director Steven Spielberg for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom alongside Harrison Ford’s character Indy himself.

Career

After appearing as Short Round in Temple Of Doom, Ke went on to reprise his role again two years later for Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade starring Sean Connery alongside Ford once again as Indy . Following this success ,he continued working steadily into adulthood taking roles both big budget Hollywood productions like Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) or smaller independent projects such Richard III(1995). Additionally , due to his background experience with various forms of martial arts including judo & karate; He has also worked extensively doing stunts over numerous films including Lethal Weapon 4(1998). In recent times he’s focused more towards voice acting work lending his talents towards video games like Saints Row IV & Grand Theft Auto V while continuing work within film industry today most notably playing Master Li Mai Pen opposite Donnie Yen’s Chirrut Imwe from Rogue One : A Star Wars Story (2016).

Personal Life

Since 1995 Ke has been married twice firstly marrying actress/producer Traci Toguchi whom they have three children together before divorcing some time afterwards then going onto marry Mariko Nakasone Kaneko since 2006 having one daughter between them currently residing Tokyo Japan.. Outside acting career ,He is avid traveler having traveled world extensively visiting countries across Europe Asia North America & Oceania exploring different cultures along way thus which reflects deep appreciation multiethnicity diversity humanity itself .
