Jon Scheyer

Jon Scheyer (born November 10, 1987) is an American basketball coach and former player. He played college basketball at Duke University from 2006 to 2010 where he was a two-time captain and the Most Outstanding Player of the 2010 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. After college, he briefly played professionally in Israel before beginning his coaching career as an assistant with the Blue Devils program in 2011.

High school career

Scheyer attended Glenbrook North High School located in Northbrook, Illinois, near Chicago where he led his team to three consecutive state championships from 2003–05 becoming one of only four players in IHSA history to do so. As a senior for the Spartans during 2004–05 season, Scheyer averaged 25 points per game en route to being named Illinois Mr. Basketball by both The Associated Press and Gatorade; additionally that year he earned All-America honors from Parade Magazine and McDonalds All-American status after leading GBNHS to its third straight title..During this period Jon also set a record for most 3 point field goals made over 4 seasons which still stands today at 273 . In addition , Jon was awarded USA Today National Player Of The Year awards as well as numerous other accolades such ESPN & Sports Illustrated all America selections . On April 19th 2005 , John accepted scholarship offer extended by Coach K & Duke University thus began what would become legendary legacy on campus

College career

Upon arrival at Durham NC , it didn’t take long for everyone involved with Duke men’s basketball program recognize potential within young freshman guard out of Illinois who had won multiple titles while playing high school ball back home .. During first year with Blue Devils , Scheyer appeared 33 games averaging 5 pts 2 rebounds 1 assist 14 min … Sophomore campaign saw him up averages across board posting 12pts 3rebounds 3 assists 29 minutes . With increased role came additional responsibility more leadership qualities were needed something young man embraced wholeheartedly … Junior season stats further improved showing 17pts 4rebs 4asts 36minutes but even those numbers failed paint picture tremendous impact “The Bulldog” had on court every single night… Senior year Stats showed 20/5/4/35 respectively yet again nothing compared intangible gifts brought day floor leadership communication defensive intensity contagious spirit enthusiasm infecting rest squad helping lead them ultimate victory against Butler Bulldogs capturing schools fourth national championship crown … For efforts throughout tournament series including finals performance vs Butler scored 22points grabbed 6 boards dished 7dimes earning himself MOP award honor Post collegiate life Following graduation June 2010 Jon signed deal play professional overseas Maccabi Ashdod Israeli league member .. Though not particularly successful stint lasted barely couple months due international circumstances beyond control returned States shortly thereafter accepting position under head coach Mike Krzyzewski training staff alongside fellow classmate Nolan Smith just few years later helped guide alma mater 2015 NCAA Title despite no longer wearing uniform many consider part family forever …. Despite never having opportunity compete NBA level clearly demonstrated elite talent ability teach others craft something noticed quickly soon found himself integral component various programs… Since then has served associate head coach Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016 – 2019 following stint held same capacity Northwestern Wildcats present time works Director Operations Mens Program @Duke
