Jim Justice

Jim Justice (born April 27, 1951) is an American businessman and politician serving as the 36th Governor of West Virginia since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he was previously elected to two terms as West Virginia’s State Auditor from 2005–2011.

Justice grew up in Raleigh County, West Virginia where his family owned a small trucking business that eventually became one of the largest coal companies in America – The Justice Family Companies. He attended Marshall University from 1968-1971 but never graduated before taking over management duties for his family’s businesses at age 21 following his father’s death. In 1993, Jim purchased Greenbrier Resort – a historic luxury resort located in White Sulphur Springs which has been host to many prestigious events including U.S Presidents and International leaders throughout its long history dating back to 1778 making it “America’s Resort” .
Under Justice’s ownership, The Greenbrier has seen major improvements through various renovations and expansions while also maintaining its original charm throughout each stage with highlights such as; opening three new golf courses designed by renowned course designers Tom Fazio & Jack Nicklaus , hosting The Ryder Cup in 2019 , recreating classic rooms inspired by past presidents who have stayed at the property among other notable factors contributing to its success today..

Aside from being successful businessman he also dabbled into politics beginning shortly after becoming owner/operator of greenbrier when he ran unsuccessfully against incumbent Jay Rockefeller for US senate seat representing WV state until finally winning election for WV State auditor during 2004 campaign although later losing re-election bid during 2011 race due to controversies surrounding tax investigation involving some members within justice organization . However despite this setback jim ultimately bounced back stronger then ever winning gubernatorial election closely held November 8th 2016 followed up again four years later successfully securing another term running unopposed 2020 primary elections becoming only second governor current century serve consecutive terms office since Cecil Hunderwood left office 2001 .

Besides being very active both politically commercially Mr justice found time away boardroom give back community via philanthropy recently launching initiative called “Hope Initiative Program”, aiming provide financial assistance families need help sending their children college or trade schools break cycle poverty cycle rampant parts rural Appalachia region home state west virginia building brighter future generations come ..
