Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain (born March 24, 1977) is an American actress and producer. She has received numerous accolades for her work, including two Academy Award nominations, a Golden Globe Award win and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Early life
Chastain was born in Sacramento County, California to Jerri Renee Hastey and Michael Monasterio. Her mother worked as a vegan chef while her father was a firefighter with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection before becoming an environmental inspector for The San Francisco Office Of Environment Health Hazard Assessment in 2010. Chastain’s parents divorced when she was young; she lived mostly with her mother until age 11 when they moved back to Northern California where they had both grown up together in San Francisco Bay Area towns such as Fairfield & Vacaville.

Career

In 2003-2004 , Chastain studied acting at Juilliard School Drama Division but left after one year due to financial reasons . After leaving Juilliard, she found success on stage performing off Broadway productions like “The Cherry Orchard” (2006). Later that year she made her television debut appearing on Law & Order: Trial by Jury . A few small roles followed over the next several years until 2008 when Jessica landed what would become breakthrough role playing Celia Foote opposite Brad Pitt’s character Benjamin Button in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which earned critical acclaim from reviewers worldwide . This helped solidify Jessica’s place among Hollywood leading ladies soon landing major roles alongside some of Tinseltown biggest stars such as Tom Hardy (Lawless), John Malkovich(Burn After Reading )and most recently Charlize Theron(Dark Places ). In 2011 , Jessica starred opposite Octavia Spencer who won best supporting actress Oscar award For their performance playing maids during civil rights movement era drama ‘the Help’ Which garnered four academy awards nominations including Best Picture nomination along with other prestigious awards throughout world Including Golden Globe win for Best Actress Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category making it first major film recognition since beginning career decade earlier..
