Jamie Dixon

Jamie Dixon (born November 10, 1965) is an American college basketball coach and former player who is currently the head men’s basketball coach of TCU. He was previously the head coach at University of Pittsburgh from 2003 to 2016. During his 13-year tenure with Pitt, he compiled a 328–123 record (.727 winning percentage) and led the Panthers to 11 NCAA Tournaments including two Sweet Sixteens (2009 & 2011).

Dixon was born in Burbank, California on November 10th, 1965. His father coached baseball while his mother worked as a school teacher. As a high school student in Los Angeles County, Dixon played point guard for Glendora High School before graduating in 1983. After graduation he attended UC Irvine where he earned All Big West honors twice during his four years there playing under Bill Mulligan from 1984-1988. At UCI Jamie set several records that still stand today including most consecutive free throws made (34), single season 3pt FG% (.500), career FT% (.822) and most minutes played per game in a season (37 MPG).

In 1988 Dixon began working as an assistant coach under Tim Floyd at New Orleans Privateers but left after one year to become an assistant at Hawaii Warriors where they won their first ever WAC Tournament Championship title against #1 seed UTEP Miners earning them their first NCAA Tournament bid since 1967/68 season placing 8th overall nationally scoring wins over Arkansas Little Rock Trojans by 17 points and Virginia Tech Hokies by 5 Points respectively showing great promise for future success within program ultimately leading him back home taking reigns of team becoming Head Coach Of The University Of Pittsburgh Mens Basketball Team In 2003 following Ben Howlands departure To UCLA Bruins Program Where He Would Lead Them To Three Final Fours solidifying himself among top tier coaches across America making name well known throughout College Basketball world .

From 2005 – 2015 Jamie lead Pitt Men’s Basketball Through Ten Consecutive 20+ Win Seasons Including Five 30+ Win Seasons Earning Him A Spot On USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25 For Record 12 Straight Years While Securing Their Place Among Elite Programs Across Country Being Ranked 15 Times Over Course Of Time Leading Up To His Departure Following 2014/15 Season With Overall Record Of 328 – 123 An Impressive Accomplishment Given Short Amount Expected Turnarounds That Have Been Seen And Experienced Throughout History Such Powerhouse Programs Such As Kansas Jayhawks Duke Blue Devils Syracuse Orange Etc..

Since leaving Pitt , Jamie Joined Forces With TCU Horned Frogs Taking Reins There In March 2016 Where Almost Immediately Showing Signs Greatness Winning NIT Championship Just Year Later Then Followed It Up Next By Making First Ever Trip Big Dance 2018 / 19 Season Finishing Regular Campaign 21 – 11 Before Losing Round 1 Matchup Against Indiana Hoosiers Despite Solid Effort Putting Together Another Notable Run Along Way Bidding Farewell Senior Star Vladimir Brodziansky Markin Significant Step Forward Within Program Under Leadership Direction Respectively Setting Stage Future Successes Returning Back Postseason Play 2019 / 20 Going 16 – 6 Pre Covid Shut Down Before Having Remainder Games Cancelled Due Unforeseen Circumstances But Nonetheless Displaying Certain Promise Possibilities Moving Ahead Present Day Now Preparing Set Sights 2021/ 22 Campaign Looking Get Out Gate Running Building On Recent Momentum Gains Already Seen Early Stages Current Reign Fort Worth Texas Hopeful Bright Days Are Ahead Come Autumn………
