History
First settled by Europeans in 1855 and incorporated as a village in 1898, Hutchinson grew rapidly due to its proximity to the railway lines that ran through it from Mankato and St Cloud on their way towards South Dakota – prompting mass immigration for people seeking work in these industries or related ones like farming or lumbering . In 1902 it became a city with a mayor appointed by Governor Samuel Van Sant , who also pushed for better roads between towns within McLeod County which made transportation easier over time . By 1910 most major businesses had been established including banks , newspapers , hardware stores , clothing retailers etc., helping expand its influence beyond local boundaries into neighbouring counties too .

Educationally there are two public high schools : one dedicated specifically only grades 9-10 called ‘Hutchinson Secondary’ while another spans all four academic years 11-14 known simply as ‘High School’.
