Greg Fischer

Greg Fischer (born April 29, 1958) is an American entrepreneur and politician who currently serves as the 55th Mayor of Louisville, Kentucky. Prior to taking office in 2011, Fischer had a successful business career as co-founder of SerVend International Inc., Chairman and CEO at Iceberg Enterprises LLC., President of b2B Solutions Group LLC., and founder/CEO at BIOX Corporation. He also served on the boards for several organizations throughout his professional life.

Born in New York City, Fischer grew up in Lexington before graduating from Vanderbilt University with a degree in economics and engineering management systems. After college he moved to Atlanta where he worked for Procter & Gamble’s Logistics Services Division before moving back to Lexington after two years working there. In 1985 he founded SerVend International Inc which quickly became one of America’s top ten vending companies under his leadership; it was sold off 19 years later when Fisher retired from its post as chairman/CEO following three consecutive record breaking sales quarters since 2002 He then returned to Louisville that same year starting Iceberg Enterprises LLC—a venture capital firm dedicated towards helping small businesses start up—which has provided financial backing for over 40 different startup ventures since its inception .
In 2010 Greg announced his candidacy for mayor running against Republican Hal Heiner during the general election held November 2nd ,2010; winning by a margin of 15%. During this time period major issues included budget deficits caused by previous administrations poor fiscal policies along with high unemployment rates due mainly do layoffs within large government sectors like Education.. As part of his campaign platform Fischer promised reform through increased transparency between local governments officials while promoting economic development projects such as bringing new jobs into town via technology firms or investing more money into redeveloping blighted areas around downtown Louisville so they could become viable commercial districts again . Once elected Mayor Fischers first order action was passing “Louisville Forward” -an initiative designed to improve infrastructure while simultaneously creating jobs across multiple industries like construction ,manufacturing ,healthcare etc.-on July 26th 2011 ; followed shortly thereafter by passage “The Safe Streets Ordinance” – legislation providing extra funding towards policing efforts aimed curbing violent crime–in December 11th 2012 . This ordinance would go onto win numerous awards including the 2013 Innovations Award given out yearly by Harvard’s Kennedy School Of Government recognizing innovative public policy initiatives taken nationwide .. Throughout Fischers tenure other accomplishments include securing funds needed renovate historic landmarks such Waterfront Park located near Ohio River reducing citywide poverty rate 8% down current levels implementing wide sweeping reforms pertaining domestic violence prevention social services programs attracting investments totaling $6 billion dollars making city one most attractive places live work United States today .. His mayorship ends January 2018 amid widespread praise both locally abroad political pundits worldwide citing him being effective leader even under direst circumstances times..
