Government policy by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 69 Government policy is the choices that a government makes to manage its affairs. It can also be referred to as public policy, which includes laws, regulations and decisions made by governmental bodies at all levels (national, regional and local). Government policies are often established in order to achieve certain objectives for society or the economy such as economic growth or social equity. Policies may involve regulation of industry standards; taxation; spending on public services such as healthcare, education and infrastructure; welfare programs; foreign relations issues; environmental protection initiatives and other areas where governments have influence over their citizens. The development of government policies typically involves many stakeholders including elected officials from different political parties who must compromise on legislation in order to pass it into law. Other involved parties can include non-governmental organizations (NGOs), businesses, special interest groups, think tanks and lobby groups representing particular interests in politics or specific industries. A key challenge faced by policymakers is finding ways of balancing competing interests while still achieving desired outcomes with limited resources available for implementation. In democracies decision making processes are intended to ensure that those affected by new policies have an opportunity for input prior to adoption so they understand how it will impact them directly or indirectly through taxes etc.. In some countries like China there exists a single party system meaning only one political view dominates the formation of national policy instead of debate between two opposing sides about what should be done resulting more centrally planned control than seen elsewhere due Western style democracies based upon multi-party systems allowing multiple points regarding any given issue before votes occur determining official action taken afterward if approved unanimously otherwise requiring further negotiations until agreement reached among legislators concerned about potential consequences arising from proposed measures being considered seriously enough warranting additional review time needed before implementing changes affecting millions people potentially both positively negatively depending upon perspective held concerning benefits risks associated each outcome occurring either way when factoring related costs incurred regardless whether goals achieved not ultimately deciding fate respective plans eventually put place after much deliberation resolution passed finally signed off duly authorized representatives authority having jurisdiction within domain responsible upholding enforcing same thereafter continuing regularly monitor performance compare against set criteria determine subsequent actions deemed necessary improve results obtained following initial trial period observations collected assessed finalizing overall evaluation report summarizing findings recommendations accordingly followed up ensuring adherence compliance later date specified predetermined conditions met accordance schedule predetermined plan outline agreed previously amongst members governance board overseeing management operations structure organization mandated according charter document ratified endorsed officially thereby bestowing legitimate legitimacy enforceability stipulations contained therein terms general applicable collective whole entity covered scope applicability whose purpose stated clause section subject matter proceedings governed under purview said act effectualize effective execute successfully project completion required timeline allocated budget constraints imposed expectation minimum acceptable quality standard deliverables expected produced result tangible measurable output yield quantifiable profit margin return investment original undertaking nature work performed chargeable labor cost recoverable meaningful realistic scales reference comparison benchmark accepted industry norms practices followed worldwide recognized respected acknowledged similarly applied similar contexts globally across borders universally universal respect accorded uniform application harmonization guidelines principles unifying framework enabling unification coherence consensus understanding shared beliefs held ethical values morally righteous attitudes towards life itself sustained maintained perpetuated generation next progress march ever forward ceaselessly continuously ad infinitum eternity everlasting
