The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is a private foundation established in September 2000 by Intel co-founder Gordon E. Moore and his wife, Betty Irene Moore. The foundation has its headquarters based in Palo Alto, California, United States with an endowment of $6.7 billion USD as of 2017 making it one of the largest foundations in the world.

Mission Statement:
The mission statement for the organization is to “create positive outcomes for future generations.” In achieving this goal, they focus on four main areas: environmental conservation; patient care improvement; scientific research advancement; and Bay Area community development initiatives such as education programs and economic sustainability projects.

Environmental Conservation – This program works to protect biodiversity around the world through funding organizations that promote sustainable land use practices like marine protected areas (MPAs).
