Fred Couples (born October 3, 1959) is an American professional golfer who has achieved success on both the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2013.

Early life and amateur career
Couples was born in Seattle, Washington to Tom and Violet Couples. At age 11 he started playing golf at Jefferson Park Municipal Golf Course with his father’s clubs, which were cut down for him. His first holes-in-one as a junior golfer came at age 13 when he hit two consecutive shots into a par three hole while caddying at Glendale Country Club in Bellevue, WA. As an amateur, Fred won several tournaments including the 1977 Pacific Northwest Amateur Championship and 1979 Western Amateur Championship before turning pro in 1980 after graduating from O’Dea High School (Seattle).

Professional career
In 1983 Couples joined the PGA Tour full time where he went on to win 15 events over the course of 22 years including The Masters Tournament held annually by Augusta National Golf Club which he won in 1992 becoming only one of four players to have shot all four rounds under 70 during that tournament—the others being Jack Nicklaus (1965), Raymond Floyd (1976), and Jordan Spieth (2015). In addition to this success on tour Fred also racked up 10 international wins bringing his total number of victories worldwide up to 25 thus far; making him one of few professionals who can claim such accomplishments throughout their careers.
He made Team USA for nine Ryder Cups between 1987–2010 winning seven matches out or fourteen played overall earning himself recognition as “Captain America” amongst fans due largely due creditably representing America no matter what side they are competing against internationally – especially Europe whom many consider tough competition within themselves alone let alone compared together with other countries around world vying championship titles year after year without fail like clockwork it seems…it’s remarkable really if you ask any fan/golfer alike!
Since turning 50 years old 2010 Fred moved onto become member Senior Champions Tour taking part multiple major championships well receiving accolades such Charles Schwab Cup Champion 2011 2012 respectively hosting own event Cologuard Classic Tucson Arizona 2017 2018 respective alongside his wife Thais Saccani-Coules 2019 2020 keeping streak alive still today despite pandemic hitting global scale across sports entertainment industries everywhere 2020 not stopping show go even just yet either…

In summary: Throughout his long illustrious career spanning almost 40 years now since starting off young boy back home Seattle Washington area early 80’s good ol ‘Freddie’ never failed impress us continuously setting bar higher each day showing how truly passionate about game sport always been inspired generations come follow footsteps hopefully achieving same kind successes has done so beautifully here too!
