The Fairleigh Dickinson Knights men’s basketball team is the NCAA Division I college basketball program of Fairleigh Dickinson University, located in Teaneck and Hackensack, New Jersey. The school competes in the Northeast Conference (NEC).

History
The Knights first began playing competitively during the 1939–40 season under head coach John A. “Reds” Harrison as a member of the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Basketball League. During that same season they posted an impressive 14-2 record and won their league championship with a 7-1 mark. They would go on to win three more consecutive MIBL championships from 1941–1943 before joining other athletic programs at FDU in transitioning to World War II suspended play for four years between 1943–1947. When athletics resumed after WWII ended, intense competition helped shape one of America’s most successful collegiate sports programs ever since then; winning two National Invitation Tournament titles (in 1955 & 1970), making multiple trips to both NCAA tournaments and NIT playoffs throughout its history while producing several noteworthy players such as Hall Of Famer Earl “The Pearl” Monroe who led his alma mater squad into becoming back-to-back conference champions – something only done twice prior by any NEC institution –during 1965/66 & 1966/67 campaign seasons along with NBA All Star Gene Banks who starred alongside Dr J Julius Erving while leading FDU teams into several tournament appearances during late 70s early 80s era..
