Egypt by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 76 Egypt, officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a transcontinental country located in North Africa and Southwest Asia. It shares borders with Sudan to the south, Libya to the west, Israel and Gaza Strip to its north-east side and The Red Sea on its eastern coast. Its capital city is Cairo. The history of Ancient Egypt spans more than 3 millennia from 3150 BCE until 332 BCE when it was conquered by Alexander Great. During this time period it saw many different Dynasties come into power – most notably Pharaohs such as Tutankhamun (1332–1323 BC), Ramesses II (1279–1213 BC) or Hatshepsut (1479 – 1458 BC). This era marked some of humankind’s greatest achievements in architecture, art and society development; including building grand pyramids like those found in Giza or temples along Nile riverbanks which still stand today as UNESCO world heritage sites. Modern day Egypt has been largely shaped by British colonisation during 1882 – 1952 but also later wars such as Six Day War fought between 1967-1973 against Israel over Sinai Peninsula’s control . Since then there have been multiple political changes that led up to current President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi taking office for 2014 election till present date where he focuses heavily on economic reform through liberalising markets & global investments while maintaining strong ties with US government policy towards Middle East region . Despite all these struggles Egyptian culture remains vibrant , diverse & deeply rooted within traditions passed down generations since ancient times . Egyptians are predominantly Sunni Muslims with small Christian minority population spread across cities throughout country who celebrate their respective religious holidays together peacefully without any form conflict whatsoever . Additionally popular sports activities include football & athletics ; national team having won numerous titles at both African Cup Champions League tournaments held annually since 1957 ! Another interesting aspect about contemporary life here involves fashion industry which has seen major resurgence past few years due new crop talented designers producing high quality garments inspired traditional dress worn around land centuries ago …
