The Duke Blue Devils are the athletic teams that represent Duke University. The school is a private research university located in Durham, North Carolina and was founded by Methodists and Quakers in 1838 as Brown’s Schoolhouse. The Blue Devils compete at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level as part of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Duke has won numerous national championships across various sports including men’s basketball, women’s golf, field hockey and lacrosse. They have also produced some of college athletics’ most iconic players such as Christian Laettner, Grant Hill and Zion Williamson. The program’s long-time head coach Mike Krzyzewski is one of the winningest coaches in NCAA history with 1125 wins to his name leading up until 2018 when he retired from coaching after 40 years with Duke Basketball. Coach K led them to five NCAA tournament titles during his tenure along with 12 ACC regular season titles over a span of 30 seasons between 1986-2016 .

In addition to their success on the court or playing field, many notable alumni have come out of Duke including NBA All Stars Kyrie Irving who plays for Brooklyn Nets and Jayson Tatum for Boston Celtics; entrepreneur Elon Musk; former U.S presidential candidate Mitt Romney; philanthropist Melinda Gates among others.. As a result these accomplishments both academically & athletically have made “Duke Nation” proud –a spirit shared amongst students faculty members & fans alike throughout generations past present future!
