Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 46 The Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball program representing Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. The Blue Devils compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and have won five NCAA Championships, most recently in 2015 under head coach Mike Krzyzewski. Since Coach K took over as head coach of the team in 1980, they have become one of college basketball’s premier teams with 16 Final Four appearances and 11 ACC regular season championships. The origins of Duke Basketball can be traced back to 1910 when it was founded by John M. O’Boyle who served as a player-coach for two seasons before resigning due to health reasons that same year. Bill Dobey then took over as head coach from 1911–1915 followed by Eddie Cameron from 1915–1945 until he retired after leading the school to its first National Championship appearance during his final season at the helm of 1943-44 season which ended with a loss against Wyoming Cowboys 45-44 on March 24th 1944 at Madison Square Garden concluding their best campaign yet up till that point with 22 wins out 27 games played overall including 15 home victories making them eventually eligible for NIT trophy along aside first time ever post season experience .
