DIRECTV is an American direct broadcast satellite service provider based in El Segundo, California and is a subsidiary of AT&T. It was founded on June 17, 1994 by Eddy Hartenstein and Bob Meyerson as Hughes Electronics Corporation’s DirecTV Group. As of April 2020, it has approximately 26 million subscribers throughout the United States making it the largest pay-television company in the U.S., ahead of rival Dish Network.

The company offers subscription television services via its satellites to households across North America including Mexico and South America through two primary brands: DIRECTV (U.S.) and Sky México (Mexico).
