Denver Nuggets by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 68 The Denver Nuggets are a professional basketball team based in Denver, Colorado. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Western Conference Northwest Division. Founded as one of two expansion teams during the 1970–71 season, it was originally known as the UTA Rockets and then changed its name to “Nuggets” prior to their first game in October 1974. The team has had some success over its history, winning eight division titles and three conference championships between 1976-77 and 1985–86 seasons. As members of the NBA’s Midwest Division from 1977 until 2004 when they moved to their current home court at Pepsi Center for that season, they were able to make playoffs appearances every year except 1983 with Dan Issel leading them forward from 1981-1982 through 1989-1990 before Doug Moe took control until 1994 where he led them into contention for championship glory – though ultimately coming up short against Michael Jordan’s Bulls in 1995 Playoffs Semi Finals .
