De’Aaron Fox by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 64 De’Aaron Fox (born December 20, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played one season of college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats before being selected by the Kings with the fifth overall pick in 2017 NBA draft. Fox attended Cypress Lakes High School in Katy, Texas and led his team to a state championship as a junior. As a senior, he averaged 29 points per game on 59% shooting from beyond three-point range and was named McDonald’s All-American Game MVP after scoring 24 points 8 assists. In 2016 he committed to play at University of Kentucky under head coach John Calipari and joined fellow freshman Malik Monk and Bam Adebayo among others that made up what many considered one of best recruiting classes ever assembled. As part of his collegiate career at Kentucky Fox won two SEC Tournament championships while leading Team USA U19 World Cup squad to gold medal victory over Canada during summer prior to start sophomore year. After averaging 16.7 ppg 7 apg 4 rpg 1 spg during regular season he declared himself eligible for 2017 NBA Draft where he was taken 5th overall by Sacramento Kings becoming first Wildcat drafted since 2015 when Karl Towns went number one overall . During Summer League debut with new franchise De’Aaron showcased ability score from all levels court which included 30 point performance against Lonzo Ball then Lakers teammate Kyle Kuzma; this earned him selection First Team All Rookie honors end 2018 campaign despite missing time due injury suffered early March 2019 . On October 21 2020 , following impressive showing throughout training camp & preseason games , it announced that had become starting point guard ahead upcoming regular season .
