Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of Tibet and a major figure in Tibetan Buddhism. The title was created by Altan Khan, ruler of the Tümed Mongols, who presented it to Sonam Gyatso (1543-1588), Third Dalai Lama, at Ulaanbaatar on February 22nd 1578. Since then there have been fourteen successive reincarnations with Tenzin Gyatso serving as the current one since 1950.

Tibetans believe that each rebirth of their spiritual leaders brings forth an enlightened being whose knowledge and power are greater than those preceding him yet still retains memories from his past lives. As such he has come to be known as “The Ocean Of Wisdom”. He holds both temporal and spiritual authority over Tibetans for religious teachings regarding morality and ethical code which determines how individuals should live their life according to Buddhist principles; this includes education about karma theory, meditation practice etc.. In addition he also serves political roles advocating human rights issues related to Tibetan autonomy or independence from Chinese rule among other initiatives within international forums like United Nations General Assembly meetings where he regularly attends biennial summits held annually around world’s various locations between April – July months every year .

In 1989 after winning Nobel Peace Prize award ,he made his commitment towards nonviolence even stronger when it came down promoting peace through dialogue & understanding amongst people while discouraging use any kind force/violence under no circumstances whatsoever ;this resulted into formation many organizations like International Campaign Free Tibet(ICFT) which strive protect culture & religion its citizens face daily oppression due Chinese occupation spanning last 6 decades henceforth making them refugees millions times during same period time leading displacement entire population countries neighbouring homeland because fleeing persecution present conditions there today .. This combined efforts along side numerous awards including Congressional Gold Medal given US Congress 2008 recognition outstanding services rendered humanity earned him global admiration respect despite ongoing struggle liberate nation freedom all these years later till date ..

Overall His Holiness remains devoted cause restoring justice prosperity across land long sought after goal future generations continue pursuit liberation much loved motherland hitherto unfulfilled dream!
