Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood (born May 31, 1930) is an American actor, filmmaker, musician and political figure. He rose to international fame with his role as the Man with No Name in Sergio Leone’s Dollars Trilogy of spaghetti Westerns during the 1960s and as antihero cop Harry Callahan in the five Dirty Harry films throughout the 1970s and 1980s. These roles, among others, have made him an enduring cultural icon of masculinity.

Born in San Francisco to Margaret Ruth Runner and Clinton Eastwood Sr., Clint has Irish ancestry through his father’s side. After dropping out of high school at age 17 he had a number of odd jobs before joining The United States Army Reserve where he served for two years from 1951-1953 as a swimming instructor while stationed at Fort Ord California. Soon after his service was complete he moved to Los Angeles where he initially worked as a movie theater usher while attending acting classes which would ultimately lead him down his successful path into Hollywood stardom starting off with small parts that eventually led to larger ones such as Josey Wales who was one of most recognized characters portrayed by Eastwood on screen debuting 1976 followed shortly after by “Dirty Harry” Detective Inspector Callahan released 1971 both movies becoming box office hits along award nominations for Best Actor Golden Globe Awards going 1979 & 1983 respectively .
