Charleston Cougars men’s basketball by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 49 The Charleston Cougars men’s basketball team is the intercollegiate basketball program of the College of Charleston, located in Charleston, South Carolina. The school competes in NCAA Division I and are members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). They play their home games at TD Arena on campus. The Cougars are currently coached by Earl Grant who was hired as head coach prior to the 2014–15 season. Charleston has had a long history of success since joining Division I in 1991–92; they won two Big South Conference regular-season championships (2001 and 2003) and have made seven postseason appearances since making their first appearance in 1994 at NIT Tournament. In March 2011, following a three-year stretch that included consecutive trips to both NCAA Tournaments 2010 & 2011 with wins over ACC opponents Wake Forest University & Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets during those runs., they were invited as an #11 seed into 2012 NCAA tournament where they lost 74–69 against Indiana Hoosiers which then lead them to being ranked Top 25 nationally for most part of 2013 before finally ending up finishing 24th overall according AP Poll Rankings that year.. During this time period under Coach Bobby Cremins leadership from 2006 – 2014 , Cougars compiled an impressive record including 124 wins vs 55 losses within conference play alone .In addition he led cougarseven straight winning seasons with five 20+ win campaigns during his tenure . Most recently 2017 -18 Season saw one more trip back to post season action under current Head Coach Earl Grant when he guided cougars all way through First Round game against Auburn Tigers at 2018 NIT Tournament held Madison Square Garden New York City ..
