Belleville

Belleville is a city in the province of Ontario, Canada. Located on the north shore of Lake Ontario, Belleville is situated at the mouth of the Moira River and Bay of Quinte. With a population estimated to be over 50,000 people as of 2016, it was founded in 1816 by American settlers from New Jersey who were loyal to Britain during the War of 1812 and named after Lady Arabella Gore (nee Ellis), wife of Vice Admiral Sir Robert Faulknor-Gore. The city has since become an important industrial center for Eastern Ontario with its economic base dominated by aerospace manufacturing and automotive parts production industries due to its convenient geographical location near major highways such as 401/402 interchange and Toronto International Airport (YYZ).
