belarus government by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 52 Belarus Government is the governing body of Belarus, a sovereign state in Eastern Europe. It comprises the executive branch, legislative branch and judicial branch. The head of government is President Alexander Lukashenko who has held office since 1994. He enjoys extensive powers to appoint officials within all branches of government as well as dissolve parliament and call for new elections at any time he likes. The Legislative Branch consists of two chambers – The Council Of Republic which serves an advisory role to the president on matters related to national security; it also approves constitutional amendments proposed by either chamber or the president – and House Of Representatives that passes laws with approval from both houses required before they can be passed into law. Members are elected through regular parliamentary elections every 4 years (last election was held in 2019). The Executive Branch wields most power within Belarusian governance structure: led by President Alexander Lukashenko, this branch controls military forces, foreign policy decisions , economic development strategies among other things . This system gives him considerable influence over political life in general while allowing his administration relative autonomy when it comes to decision-making processes.. Additionally there are several ministries responsible for various aspects such as finance & economy ; interior affairs ; public health etc . Decisions made by these ministers require presidential approval before being implemented into effect . Sitting atop legal hierarchy sits Supreme Court: its main duties include interpretation & application of legislation enacted by legislature along with ruling on constitutionality disputes if needed . Furthermore court may act upon complaints against administrative authorities or challenge acts issued from lower level courts too .. Finally , numerous local councils exist across country where citizens elect representatives tasked with handling regional issues ranging from infrastructure maintenance up until providing social services like welfare payments etc … These councils then report back their findings/actions directly to central government’s respective departments thus creating strong connection between regionals needs & overarching vision set forth by National leadership ..
