Asa Hutchinson by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 78 Asa Hutchinson (born December 3, 1950) is an American politician who has served as the 46th Governor of Arkansas since 2015. He previously was a U.S. Congressman representing Arkansas’ Third Congressional District from 1997 to 2001 and again from 2011 to 2015, as well as Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration from 2001 to 2003 under President George W. Bush. Early life and education Hutchinson was born in Bentonville, Arkansas on December 3rd, 1950 into a political family: his father Tim Hutchinson served in both houses of the state legislature while his grandfather Asa Leflar held several posts including mayor of Bentonville and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Of Arkansas; he also had two uncles that were lawyers with one being Lt Gov Nathalie Franklin Hutchison whose term ended when she passed away at age 91 in 2018 .He attended Bob Jones University for undergraduate studies then went on to earn law degrees from The University Of Arkansas School Of Law In Fayetteville And Harvard Law School In Cambridge Massachusetts respectively before entering private practice focusing primarily on criminal defense cases .
