Arizona State Sun Devils men’s basketball by Joshua Brown May 1, 2023 59 The Arizona State Sun Devils men’s basketball team is the intercollegiate men’s basketball program of Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. The school competes in the Pac-12 Conference (Pac-12) and plays its home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Established in 1897, it is one of the oldest programs west of the Mississippi River and currently holds an all-time record of 1,868–1,479 (.558). In addition to their conference success over recent years with four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 2014 to 2018 under head coach Bobby Hurley (who was hired by ASU on April 8th 2015), they have also won two Western Athletic Conference championships during that period as well as three post season NIT titles prior to joining Division I play for good beginning with the 1977–78 season. As part of a complete athletic department overhaul initiated by former university president Michael Crow upon his arrival in 2002 which resulted into new branding identity for all sports teams alongside massive upgrades across facilities and coaching staffs throughout most departments including baseball, softball and football; he made sure not to forget about men’s basketball either leading up until finally hiring Herb Sendek who had just been fired at North Carolina State after 10 seasons there on April 3rd 2006 – thus ending a long search process conducted by then AD Lisa Love & Co. Herb went onto lead ASU hoops through nine successful campaigns between 2006 & 2015 before leaving for Santa Clara where he remains today while Bobby took charge shortly thereafter following stints at Buffalo & Rhode Island respectively having come off back-to-back Final Four runs achieved within his first five years working wonders both mid major schools previously mentioned – becoming only third person ever hold such distinction among those even attempting this feat since tournament began back 1939 when Oregon Webfoots defeated Ohio St Buckeyes 46–33 inside Patten Gymnasium located Evanston IL eventually winning national championship title itself now known simply ‘March Madness’ here Stateside…
