Argentina National Soccer Team

The Argentina National Soccer Team (Spanish: Selección de fútbol de Argentina) is the national football team of Argentina and is overseen by the Argentine Football Association. It represents the country in international competitions such as FIFA World Cup, CONMEBOL Copa América, Summer Olympics and Pan American Games. The team has won two world titles; 1978 FIFA World Cup held in Argentina and 1986 FIFA World Cup hosted in Mexico City with Diego Maradona being their most iconic player ever to grace a pitch.

Argentina’s first match was against Uruguay on May 16th 1901 at Montevideo’s Estadio Gran Parque Central which ended up 1-1 draw. Since then they have participated in 18 out of 21 editions of The Fifa World cup including all tournaments since 1982 when it was reintroduced under new rules from its predecessor Jules Rimet Trophy tournament that ran from 1930 -1970 . They are second only to Brazil for having finished runners up four times more than any other nation (4x). As part of CONMEBOL South America governing body, Argentines have taken home 14 International trophies over time; 9 Copa Ameircas , 2 Confederations Cups & 3 Artemio Franchi Trophies which corresponds to Intercontinental Championship or Club Word Champion title today.

The current head coach is Lionel Scaloni who took charge after Jorge Sampaoli stepped down following 2018 Russia WC campaign where Los Alamos were eliminated 4-3 on penalty shootouts during round sixteen tie vs France after finishing Group Stage matches unbeaten but not advancing due controversial video assistant refereeing implementation used during game vs Iceland that led them conceding late goal & dropping points off table into third place behind Croatia & eventual champions Les Blues whom would be facing each other next round before falling short just one step away from Quarter Finals stage itself so close yet too far away ultimately ending rollercoaster ride prematurely thus leaving fans disappointed around globe either way…

In spite this setback squad still features some familiar names like Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero Gonzalo Higuaín along side emerging talents such Paulo Dybala Nicolás Otamendi among many others hoping recapture glory days ahead forthcoming challenges lie ahead come summer 2020 Tokyo Olympic games scheduled start July 22nd date if COVID 19 pandemic situation allows event proceed normalcy manner expected originally planned according schedule given green light official health authorities respective countries involved competition meaning ground work laid solid foundation success back once again soccer field representing our beloved homeland proud flag stands highest level honor possible striving modern era excellence continued endeavor keep traditions alive spirit unity solidarity same respect sportsmanship values shared generations come!
