Why Is Ari Aster Refusing to Talk About His New Movie?

Ari Aster doesn’t really want to talk about his new movie, “Beau Is Afraid”. He even joked that he isn’t supposed to discuss it for at least 10 years! But, because people are so eager and can’t wait to find out more about Ari’s three-hour long epic film, it will be released in theaters this Friday.

He said he wanted to move away and let the movie stand on its own, so that he wouldn’t be making it harder for everyone. He also felt embarrassed hearing himself saying this.

Aster has a good point – if you’ve never watched “Beau Is Afraid,” it’s best to go into it without too much knowledge. The movie is three hours of craziness, fear, and dread. It was a personal project that Aster wrote after studying film at the American Film Institute. While it’s his most confusing creation yet, he still wants people to enjoy it.

“I made something for people to enjoy. I hope it would be fun and make them feel different emotions. Although, I understand if they don’t quite get it,” he said.

People have tried to describe this film by mentioning authors, like Voltaire, Kafka and Charlie Kaufman. Others named David Lynch as a source of inspiration. But after hearing all those names, what do they really tell us about the movie? It’s kind of weird, that’s all.

The movie “Beau Is Afraid” shows the main character, Joaquin Phoenix, as he bravely tries to make it to his mom’s house. Though you can watch the trailer to get a better idea of what this movie is about, it doesn’t show all that happens in the film.

“Beau Is Afraid” is the third horror movie from director Ari Aster, who also made “Hereditary” and “Midsommar”. These two movies have become iconic in the horror genre. Although not as creepy as his earlier work, “Beau Is Afraid” still portrays a unique take on fear that leaves many feeling horrified. This could mark the end of Ari Aster’s scary movie directing journey.

“Hereditary” was a frightening movie about ghosts, but “Midsommar” is completely different. It follows some college students who don’t face any supernatural problems — what they have to go through are all horrors created by people!

In “Beau Is Afraid”, it is unclear if the scary parts that Beau faces in the movie are real or just inside his mind. This shows how our minds can control us and make us feel scared even when nothing really bad is happening. Even if the monsters Beau faces aren’t real, does it still make them any less scary?

Aster shared that he doesn’t think too much about which genre his movies belong to, and the kind of categories they are placed in don’t really have any effect on how he makes them.

I try to push back against it as much as possible. In the end, the films have to be packaged a certain way so they can be sold and this often changes what was originally made or meant. Eventually, it looks different from how it started out because that’s just part of the process.

Aster, the director of a horror movie, recently revealed that he didn’t want to make this type of film at first. He admitted that it wasn’t his first option but now he can see how it was a good decision. He said when people asked if he was a horror filmmaker, he felt weird because he knew he wanted to make other genres in the future too.”

Aster said that some people have been wrong about him. He explained, “I really like the horror genre and I’m a filmmaker of it!”
