US Agencies Unveil Facts Behind Florida Surgeon General’s Misleading Vaccine Claims

The United States government has sent a letter to the doctor in charge of Florida, saying that his statements about how unsafe the COVID-19 vaccine can be might hurt everyone in their fight against the virus.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention answered a letter from Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo. He wrote them last month because he was worried about bad things happening after people get their COVID-19 vaccines.

In 2021, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Ladapo and he started getting attention from people all around the nation because of his support for the governor not to make coronavirus vaccines or other health measures mandatory that were recommended by the federal government.

Ladapo’s advice last year was to not give healthy children COVID-19 vaccinations, which contradicted the suggestion made by people in charge of federal public health who believe all kids should be vaccinated.

Someone recommended that men ages 18 to 39 don’t get the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, because an analysis of the Florida Department of Health showed that cardiac-related deaths in vaccinated people were 84% higher. But some heart experts looked into this worry and said that the risk of stroke or heart attack with vaccination was lower, not higher.

Around the world, over 13 billion people have already been vaccinated for COVID-19 and there is little to no evidence of harmful side effects. Public health experts like Robert Califf and Rochelle Walensky wrote a letter reminding us all that it’s important to protect as many people as possible, especially those who are vulnerable and pandemic misinformation should not be spread around.

On Saturday, the Florida Department of Health did not answer an email about a letter.
