Two inmates from the Newport News jail in Virginia found a way to escape by using some crude tools to make a hole in their cell. But, it didn’t take long for them to be discovered again – only a few hours! The police found both men, who were 37 and 43 years old, at an IHOP restaurant nearby.

The police found out that the men managed to escape from prison by taking advantage of a flaw in the jail’s structure. They made tools from a toothbrush and some metal object to break through the walls, and then used those same bars to climb over an extra wall around the jail.

The police asked for the public’s help to find two men, and they were caught early Tuesday at an IHOP in Hampton when other diners called them out. The Sheriff said it shows that we should always report anything suspicious that we see. They are now looking into the case in order to stop any more escapes in the future. One of the men lives in Hampton and he was held responsible on contempt and probation violation charges.

Someone from Gloucester had gotten into trouble with a few serious crimes, such as pretending to be someone else with their credit card, stealing big items and not following the rules of their probation. These people may soon face even more consequences due to their escape attempt.
