Severe weather, including a tornado, descended on areas of Indiana, Tennessee, and other states, leading to a fatality in a residential home and injuring another individual, according to an official report.

WXIN-TV shared that the deadly tornado, which tore through a house on Sunday evening, was part of a larger storm system that passed over Martin County.

Cameron Wolf, the Director of Martin County Emergency Management Agency, authenticated the report of the fatality and the injury. WXIN stated that the affected home was located in a rural sector where multiple trees were uprooted due to the powerful winds.

Despite attempts by The Big Big News to reach out to Martin County’s emergency management officials for more details about the casualties and the full extent of the storm’s impact, there was no immediate response.

The Martin County seat, Shoals, lies roughly 85 miles (137 kilometers) to the southwest of Indianapolis and 80 miles (128 kilometers) to the northwest of Louisville, Kentucky.

Another tornado was reported to have made landfall in Johnston County, situated south of Indianapolis, as per information from the Indianapolis Star.

Deputy Fire Chief Michael Pruitt of Bargersville, Indiana, informed the newspaper that a search and rescue operation following a report of a structure collapse at around 4:15 p.m. did not uncover any fatalities or injuries tied to the Johnston County tornado.

The tornado’s path of destruction spanned a 4-mile (6-kilometer) stretch between Interstate 69 and Indiana 135 and lasted approximately 15 minutes. Pruitt added that homes and roofs incurred damage, and fallen power lines may cause continuous power outages over the coming days.

In Memphis, Tennessee, a utility provider announced that around 120,000 residential and commercial buildings were left without electricity on Sunday, after storms with high winds toppled trees and caused additional damage.
