Remnants of the destroyed truck remained scattered on the tracks, with other parts laying close to the derailed train cars. Captain McGrath stated that the truck driver, who only sustained minor injuries, managed to exit the vehicle prior to the collision.

The derailed cars remained upright on a track segment adjacent to an orchard and vacant patches of land.

Captain McGrath reported that most passengers could leave the train independently or with assistance from first responders who were alerted around 11:20 a.m. A few individuals were transported to hospitals for further assessment, though the exact number was unknown at the time.

TV news footage revealed multiple people, some with luggage, gathered in a nearby field as firefighters managed the situation.

A small fire that had broken out was quickly extinguished by the crews, as reported by Captain McGrath.
