The South Carolina Gamecocks basketball team is doing great in the competition. Their players are running after the ball and using their arms to stop any chances of the opposing team from succeeding. The Team’s bigs are easily catching all the shots that come off the hoop.

It’s an unbeatable combination, so far they really have a lot of chance to win the national championship again this year.

Aliyah Boston did really well in the game, getting 14 rebounds and two blocks, which helped South Carolina win against UCLA 59-43 in the Sweet 16 of the Women’s NCAA Tournament. The team played a great defensive game to get the victory.

Kamilla Cardoso scored 10 points and Boston scored 8 for the Gamecocks (35-0). This means that South Carolina is the best team in the Greenville 1 Region. It was also their 41st win in a row which allowed them to go to the Elite Eight under the coach Dawn Staley for the sixth time.

According to Brea Beal from South Carolina who scored 10 points, the team had done lots of practice on defense. That helped them in games where there wasn’t much offense for either team. The goal was to make sure that their scores stayed higher than the other team’s scores.

The Gamecocks basketball team has won each of their three NCAA matches and have not allowed any opponents score more than 45 points or even shoot 30%. On Monday, they will face the Maryland team again – this time in the regional final – which they had already defeated by 25 points when they first met earlier this season.

It was difficult for South Carolina to attack UCLA during the game because the Bruins got in a defensive position to close off the paint, making it hard for South Carolina’s size advantage (with Boston). Cori Close, UCLA’s coach, said that they had the lowest point total that anyone had ever held them to at halftime yet, unfortunately, they couldn’t take advantage of it because they were having trouble offensively.

The Gamecocks beat UCLA 73-64 in the first time they played each other. This time around, things got worse for UCLA with them having a 29% shooting rate. Also, they only made 3 out of 18 shots from long distance.

Camryn Brown said that it felt tough for them and added that the team was feeling quite chaotic on the court. In the end, UCLA ended up making 15 mistakes out of 63 plays that they had, which is almost one mistake in every four plays!

Charisma Osborne scored 14 points, which put the UCLA team in the Sweet 16. This means that they were almost in the regional finals (which they hadn’t been since 2018) and if they won, it would be the first time ever for them to make it to the Final Four competition!

The Bruins were missing a lot of their shots in the start, and they could not even get back most of those missed shots. This meant that the Gamecocks had a huge advantage in the first half of the game and the score was 25-15 in the Gamecocks’ favor at halftime. Things didn’t change much during the third quarter as both teams scored same amount points by then.

Close had to endure two uncomfortable moments. The Gamecocks managed to throw a pass to Cardoso, who at 6-foot-7 was able to reach above the 6-2 Iwuala and gain possession of the ball for an easy close-range shot.

Additionally, Beal used her right hand to tap out a loose rebound from Jaquez’s grip before keeping it herself and passing it inside Saxton for a smooth hook shot.

This season, teams have gone through their tough times again and again. This time the South Carolina Gamecocks are playing in this new double-regional tournament that everyone is watching.

When the players entered the tunnel to warm up before the Notre Dame-Maryland game, the crowd roared with applause. As each player left the court after practicing, many waved their arms in response to the cheers. Lastly, when the Gamecocks won and advanced, people cheered even louder!

South Carolina’s basketball team focused on taking their time driving the ball to find gaps while playing. At halftime, they were reminded by their coach that slowing down will lead to better shots. Also, in the third quarter, the coach showed a great display of sportsmanship.

UCLA’s Emily Bessoir hurt herself after trying to take the ball away from Boston. She was lying on the ground, and South Carolina had possession of the basketball near half-court. Coach Staley stopped them and asked the officials to help her out.

Close said that moments such as this one in games can show someone’s true character and can show what is important to them. Staley agreed, saying that it was the right choice to make sure the young lady was safe.
